Give the press a hearing with two men who despise each other and it will cover the despising. "Unhinged" led the write-ups; the Fifth Amendment count ran like a box score. Underneath: a pre-emptive pardon that stops at January 2025 and therefore does not cover 2026 perjury — which is exactly why the Fifth was available and exactly why it was used, a mechanism almost nobody explained. And a committee chairman who sent a contempt referral straight to DOJ without the floor vote precedent requires, with the Vice President certifying it to a U.S. Attorney. In 2022 he answered and could not name the study. In 2026 he does not answer. That is a complete arc, on the record, and it lost to a grudge match.
