HAST Morning. We're leading with ground movement in the Panhandle.

KELI Around five a.m. Thursday, a magnitude five earthquake hit northwestern Roberts County. People felt it across the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles — that's the northernmost part of the High Plains, Potter and Randall counties included. The U.S. Geological Survey says there's a real chance for at least one aftershock within the week. The counter-read here: early reports will focus on the single tremor and residents' surprise. What matters structurally is the aftershock window. If you're in the Panhandle and feel ground movement over the next seven days, that's not a new event — it's part of the same sequence. Seismic forecasts in oil and gas country can shift fast once the data settles. Watch whether the USGS revises the aftershock probability upward or downward by mid-week.

HAST The other piece moving in Randall County involves Kevin Hunt's case. Woman named Kristina Maria Partida was indicted July fifteenth on hindering the prosecution of terrorism and tampering with evidence. She deleted messages with intent to keep them from investigators. Gardena Police in California arrested her July seventeenth.

KELI Amarillo Crime Stoppers has a fugitive of the week. Joshua Lozoya the second, nineteen years old, wanted by the Randall County Sheriff's Office for assault of a pregnant person. HAST Different footing for this one. Amarillo College is facing a state funding hit. The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board approved a formula change Wednesday that cuts bonuses community colleges get for serving low-income and adult learners. Amarillo College stands to lose almost two-point-three million dollars compared to last year.

KELI On the road, Highway 152 in Wheeler County has reopened after a wreck involving hazardous materials closed westbound traffic between Wheeler city limits and the Gray County line. That's back open now.

HAST The Amarillo VA is running a drive-through mobile food pantry for veterans this Saturday from ten a.m. to noon at the Thomas E. Creek VA Medical Center on West Amarillo Boulevard. You'll need a VA ID card, and food goes on a first-come, first-served basis.
