KELI From Inkwell, this is the Amarillo News Drop. I'm Keli, with Hast.

HAST Curry County Sheriff's Office is investigating a death in a field after an arrest. A man reported finding his wife dead with serious injuries. The sheriff released details after taking him into custody, and investigators are still working the scene. We've been tracking this since it broke — we'll have more as the details come through official channels.

KELI That one's moving. On a different front, West Texas A&M is opening a four-part business workshop next week for anyone thinking about starting a company or running one. It's free. Sessions run Tuesday nights from 5:30 to 7 at the WT Enterprise Center. You need to register online beforehand.

HAST And if open government is on your mind, the Freedom of Information Foundation of Texas wrapped a seminar today at the Amarillo Area Foundation. Free training for government workers, lawyers, journalists, and the public on how open records and open meetings laws work in Texas.

KELI Bell Textron recently brought a Nigerian Air Force delegation through Amarillo to mark the start of production on AH-1Z Viper helicopters they've purchased. That's manufacturing work on the ground here for the defense contract.

HAST Before we close, a history note. On this day in 1918, a 7.1-magnitude earthquake hit Puerto Rico and triggered a tsunami that killed up to 116 people.

KELI That's the Amarillo News Drop. Full script and sources at inkwell.wiki/news/amarillo.

KELI Before we close, a word from Inkwell. There's an essay at Gil's Intelligent Version on what actually happened in 1914 — and how a real historical instinct curdled into false certainty the moment someone tried to measure it to the inch.

HAST It's called The Witness and the Ruler. At inkwell dot wiki, slash giv.
