HAST Staying with courts now. A jury deadlocked in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial in Massachusetts. The judge declared a mistrial. Clancy was charged with killing her three children in January 2022. The jury could not reach unanimity on a verdict after deliberating. The case will likely be retried. Prosecutors have not yet announced whether they'll proceed with a new trial or seek a plea.

KELI Different front. Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania skipped a scheduled meeting with three paralyzed veterans from his state in June who were coming to his office to discuss legislation. The Wall Street Journal reported the no-show yesterday. Fetterman had time that same morning to do a Fox News appearance instead. The broader reporting from the Journal details a pattern of missed constituent meetings and office work. Fetterman's office has not responded to requests for comment on the specific meeting.

HAST On governance and surveillance. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced Monday that the state will revoke all law enforcement permits for license-plate-recognition cameras on state highways. Every camera comes down by the end of September.
