KELI From Inkwell, this is the Amarillo News Drop. I'm Keli, with Hast.

HAST Good morning. Patrick Farmer, fifty-nine, was sentenced two weeks ago in Randall County to forty years in prison for indecency with a child. He's now booked into Potter County Detention Center on two separate additional charges of indecency with a child, filed back in October twenty twenty-four. Potter County trial is set for October nineteenth.

KELI So we're looking at a man with a forty-year sentence already, facing two more counts in a neighboring county within days. The mechanism here is routine but the volume matters — multiple jurisdictions, multiple victims implied, and the speed of the booking suggests the case was ready to move. What we'll watch is whether Potter County runs these concurrent or stacked. If they stack, the math changes materially for his release date.

HAST Staying with law enforcement. The Curry County Sheriff's Office has released details following an arrest in connection with a woman found dead in a field. Earlier coverage reported her with serious injuries — the new information from the arrest should clarify the circumstances and the charge. We'll track that as it develops.

KELI Different front now. Amarillo City Secretary Stephanie Coggins is nominated for the Texas Municipal Clerks Association's Emerging Leader award. The winner gets announced at the TMCA Awards Banquet in October twenty twenty-six.

HAST And a few things to know about this week. West Texas Theatre opens "The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical" October fourteenth through the eighteenth — tickets are online. The combined WT choirs perform a free concert of twentieth and twenty-first century music at seven-thirty tonight in the Mary Moody Northen Recital Hall, livestreamed.

KELI On this day in nineteen ninety-nine, an Air Botswana pilot stole an ATR forty-two from Sir Seretse Khama International Airport and crashed it into two other aircraft, killing himself.

HAST That's the Amarillo News Drop. Full script and sources at inkwell.wiki/news/amarillo.

KELI Before we close, a word from Inkwell. There's an essay at Gil's Intelligent Version on what actually happened in 1914 — and how a real historical instinct curdled into false certainty the moment someone tried to measure it to the inch.

HAST It's called The Witness and the Ruler. At inkwell dot wiki, slash giv.
