KELI From Inkwell, this is the Amarillo News Drop. I'm Keli, with Hast.
HAST Road closure coming tonight — both directions of I-40 at BI-40, east of Amarillo, shut down from midnight to 2 p.m. tomorrow for a bridge deck pour. TxDOT's routing traffic to the frontage roads. If you're moving freight or heading out early, plan the detour now.
KELI That's a hard stop for anyone crossing the Panhandle on the main corridor. Counter-read on that: this closure is scheduled, not emergency, so the state can control the traffic flow. But midnight to 2 p.m. is 14 hours — that's not a quick pour. What you'll likely see is a slow bleed of traffic onto US-60 and the service roads starting around 11 p.m., and backup won't clear until mid-afternoon even after the roads reopen. If the pour runs hot or cold weather hits, you're looking at extension. Check TxDOT's website before you leave.
HAST Amarillo Police are following up on a stabbing in northeast Amarillo Wednesday night. One arrest so far. Officers responded to a report of a knife wound; victim was treated. Department hasn't released the name of the suspect or a motive yet.
KELI Moving to the state. Trump said this week he may hold Todd Blanche's attorney general nomination until John Cornyn leaves office — the President suggesting Cornyn's blocking the pick over old political grudges. Cornyn's office said it's not personal; the process is just working as it should. The nomination's been in committee for months now. Watch whether this week's rhetoric accelerates a vote or hardens positions on both sides.
HAST Texas cattle imports are back online after screwworm concerns sidelined them last month. Mixed reaction from ranchers — some say the threat's contained, others are watching for any sign the parasite's returning. The Economic Development Board and USDA are monitoring.
KELI Lighter footing now. Amarillo's food-insecurity picture continues to shift with federal SNAP changes. The Tribune's third story in a series on how local nonprofits like Snack Pak 4 Kids are filling the gaps. Dyron Howell's group's been distributing weekend backpacks to kids who'd otherwise go hungry. The article's got the numbers and the people doing the work.
HAST One date marker. In 1987, a tornado in Edmonton, Alberta killed 27 people — a reminder that the High Plains' weather history runs deep and the damage runs hard.

KELI Before we close, a word from Inkwell. Over at Gil's Intelligent Version there's a piece on what the original words of scripture actually say about the Trinity — before any translation decided for us.
HAST Six words, examined in Hebrew and Greek. It's at inkwell dot wiki, slash trinity.
