KELI From Inkwell, this is the Amarillo News Drop. It's Tuesday, July twenty-eighth. The time is five p.m. central. I'm Keli, and Hast is with me.
HAST A Randall County woman indicted on two counts — hindering the prosecution of terrorism and tampering with evidence in the Kevin Hunt case. Kristina Maria Partida was charged by grand jury on July fifteenth. According to the indictment, she deleted messages to impair their use during the investigation. Gardena Police in California arrested her on the seventeenth.
KELI That's a second layer on an ongoing case. The simple read is: woman helps destroy evidence. But the structural fact underneath is what matters — a terrorism investigation sensitive enough that someone close to it risked federal charges to obstruct it. The Hunt case has moved quiet in local coverage. Watch whether Partida's arrest reopens questions about what the underlying investigation actually contained and whether more charges follow. That breaks in the next week or so.
HAST The Amarillo City Council met in closed session today at one p.m. discussing landfill fire claims. They convened in open session at three. The agenda included a proposed change to the city's organizational structure and a recap of the Red, White, and Boom July Fourth event. No vote or action detail released yet on the closed session or the structural change.
KELI Different front. The Texas A&M University System named Dr. Neil Terry interim president of West Texas A&M University. Terry, who's been at WT for thirty years, served as executive vice president and provost. He steps in after Walter Wendler's retirement. The board will conduct a national search for a permanent president, hoping to appoint by January.
HAST Capital region next. Texas water planners approved an initial state water plan despite missing a data center analysis. That's a flagged gap — the plan moved forward without full accounting of how data centers and their cooling demand reshape water needs on the High Plains and across the state. Worth tracking what the final plan says when it lands.
KELI Before we close, a history note.
HAST On this day in eighteen-ninety-six, the city of Miami was incorporated.

KELI Before we close, a word from Inkwell. Gil's Intelligent Version has a new companion piece on how the Latter-day Saints read the Trinity — three distinct beings, one in purpose, rather than three persons of one substance.
HAST It's an evenhanded look at the same question, decided the other way. At inkwell dot wiki, slash godhead.
