HAST Two people booked into Randall County Jail after stolen trailers turned up on Cemetery Road. Jessica McKillip and Leticia Delgado were arrested following a report filed back in April — two trailers stolen, and when the owners spotted one of them being towed days later, Amarillo Police pulled over the vehicle, found additional stolen property inside, and made the stops. That case is moving through the system now.

KELI One thing that's worth tracking underneath: theft of heavy equipment and trailers in the Panhandle has stayed steady for years — it's construction-site material and farm gear mostly — and the window between report and recovery here was months. If you've got property like that, the Randall County Sheriff's Office says documentation and serial numbers cut the recovery time. It's structural — what you can control before loss happens.

HAST Different front. A wildfire near Vega is pushing drivers away from the intersection of US 385 and FM 1061 heading south. The Oldham County Sheriff's Office flagged it this morning. No burn acreage reported yet, but the smoke and activity are active enough that they're asking people to route around it if they're heading that direction.

Governor Abbott issued a statewide pause on new data center grid connections earlier this week, and this afternoon President Trump told Punchbowl News that move was a mistake. The tension here is real: data centers pull enormous kilowatts, the grid operator ERCOT is already managing tight margins in summer peak, and Abbott's reading political pressure from rural Texas landowners and grid advocates worried about reliability. Trump's investment interest is different — he sees data-center buildout as economic. That collision is going to shape what the pause actually becomes over the next few weeks.
