KELI From Inkwell, this is the Amarillo News Drop. I'm Keli, with Hast.

HAST Deputies in Randall County have booked a suspect on three counts of aggravated assault, one count of deadly conduct, and one count of manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance. They recovered the firearm believed used in the shooting, shell casings, additional firearms, body armor, drug paraphernalia, and controlled substances. The suspect, Klotz, is in the Randall County Jail.

KELI The straightforward read is that law enforcement moved fast and locked down evidence. The harder question is what led to the shooting in the first place — whether there's a pattern here, whether threat assessment happened before rounds went downrange, and whether the drugs and body armor tell us this was planned or reactive. We'll know more when the charges move through the district court. Watch for the grand jury decision and whether the DA adds or reduces counts.

HAST A Randall County man who killed the mother of his child entered a plea agreement and was sentenced to five years in prison. That case moves off the trial docket now — the plea closed out what had been headed for trial.

KELI On a different front, the City of Amarillo released the State Fire Marshal Report on the Stinky fire. The investigator reported an inability to determine the origin and cause for several reasons. The official ruling: undetermined. That report is public on the city website.

HAST The Amarillo College campus has a new emergency call routing agreement with the city. Amarillo College and the City's Office of Emergency Management signed the deal in August. It designates the Amarillo Emergency Communications Center as the primary safety answering point for all emergency calls from AC campuses. Some readers have asked whether that means law enforcement can still navigate the campus in an emergency — the short answer from the college is yes, dispatch will handle routing.

KELI Texas data center and energy companies are forming a coalition in response to state-level backlash over power demand and grid strain. That fight is moving fast in the Capitol — companies pushing back against what they see as a political narrative, while grid operators and some lawmakers want hard caps on new data center connections to the ERCOT system. That one's not settled.

HAST State Attorney General Paxton announced hundreds of arrests of child predators across Texas. The office has been running statewide operations and coordinating with local law enforcement.

KELI That's the Amarillo News Drop. Full script and sources at inkwell.wiki/news/amarillo.

HAST One date marker: in 1985, the Mameyes landslide in Puerto Rico killed almost two hundred people in a single event.

KELI Before we close, a word from Inkwell. This drop comes from the same workshop as Gil's Intelligent Version — the Bible, re-ordered into the sequence events actually happened, and retranslated from the original languages.

HAST Its rule is simple: no author, only method. The full archive is at inkwell dot wiki, slash giv.
